Welcome to Sand Dune Safaris!

Take an adventure across the magnificent sand dunes of Port Stephens. Located just a 2.5-hour drive north of Sydney, our experiences transport you to a truly unique landscape.

Choose from one of our fabulous safaris and explore this otherworldly environment from the comfort of our specially designed 4WD vehicles. Our Sandboarding Adventure is our most popular experience and is suitable for all ages and abilities. For something truly unique, join our Tin City Safari and visit the remote outpost of Tin City, located 20 minutes along the spectacular Stockton Beach — at 32 kilometres, the longest beach in NSW.

We also offer private charters for birthday parties, corporate functions, and sunset photography sessions.

What makes Sand Dune Safaris different?

We are a small, family-owned and operated business that focuses on quality experiences rather than large tour groups. Our smaller group sizes allow us to provide a more relaxed, personal, and flexible experience for every guest.

As a smaller, more boutique operator, we are not restricted to a one-size-fits-all format. This means we can offer both sit-down and stand-up sandboarding, with time to suit different comfort levels, ages, and abilities. Our experienced guides take the time to explain techniques, provide encouragement, and ensure everyone feels safe and supported.

We operate in a unique, spectacular dune environment and are committed to responsible access and care for the area. Our custom 4WD vehicles are designed for comfort and safety, allowing you to enjoy the landscape as part of the adventure.

We also provide a shaded picnic area with tables and chairs, giving you the chance to relax, regroup, and take in the views between activities — something larger operators simply can’t offer. Most importantly, we pride ourselves on genuine, friendly service and consistently positive guest feedback — just check our reviews.

Had an amazing day sandboarding with my kids during school holidays.

Highly recommend these guys, they were super friendly and being a smaller operator, they weren't inundated with tour buses which meant we weren't sharing the dunes with hundreds of others. The kids are already planning to go again.

A great experience!

A must try when you’re in the area! Crazy amount of fun sand boarding in the sand dunes and really lovely sights. Sand boarding is easy to pickup and you can do it sitting or standing. Do remember to bring your water bottles along!
